The Biometric Consortium serves as a focal point for research, development, testing, evaluation, and application of biometric-based personal identification/verification technology. The Biometric Consortium organizes a premier biometrics conference every fall (advertised below). Information about past conferences, current government and standards activity, a bulletin board service, and other biometric resources can be found throughout this web site.
The Biometric Consortium is co-chaired by Jeffrey S. Dunn and Fernando Podio.
Supported by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Security Agency (NSA), the Biometrics Consortium Conference is focused on Biometric Technologies for Defense, Homeland Security, Identity Management, Border Crossing and Electronic Commerce.

The Conference will be two and a half days of presentations, seminars and panel discussions with the participation of internationally recognized experts in biometric technologies, system and application developers, IT business strategists, and government and commercial officers.
The conference will be held September 22 - 24, 2009 at the Tampa Convention Center, Tampa, Florida U.S.A.
Current keynote speakers for the Biometric Consortium Conference are Mr. John M. (Mike) McConnell, Senior Vice President, Booz Allen Hamilton, Former Director of National Intelligence and Louis E. Grever, Executive Assistant Director, Science & Technology Branch, Federal Bureau of Investigation.
